Is Kling AI Free? Free Credits, Limits and What You Can Actually Create

See what Kling AI and Kling4 free credits cover, how to plan a first video test, and what to check for models, watermarks, downloads and commercial use.

Is Kling AI Free? Free Credits, Limits and What You Can Actually Create

Yes. Kling AI has a free Basic tier with limited credits. On Kling4, our current signup offer gives a verified new account 40 welcome credits once. Free access is useful for learning the workflow and trying a small idea; the number of attempts depends on your selected model and its generation cost.

Before starting, decide what you want to learn from one clip. A simple movement test gives you a clearer answer than spending your allowance on a full advertisement with several scenes, dialogue and demanding camera work.

What is actually free on Kling AI and Kling4?

Official Kling AI and Kling4 have separate accounts, credit balances and plan benefits. The free offer on one service does not describe the offer on the other.

Which service? Verified free offer What to check before creating
Official Kling AI A $0 Basic tier. The membership FAQ describes monthly free credits for non-subscribers, claimed upon login and valid for 31 days. The allowance shown in your account, eligible models and generation settings. Subscriber daily bonuses are a separate benefit.
Kling4 The signup FAQ offers 40 welcome credits once after a new account is verified with email or Google. Your credited balance, the selected model's quote, expiry information and the export or licensing benefits available to your account.

The official FAQ also describes seven-day trial credits and campaign rewards with their own rules. These are different credit categories. A claim that everyone gets the same daily allowance can lead you to plan a project around credits your account does not receive.

How many videos can free credits generate?

Use your available balance divided by the displayed cost per attempt, rounded down. The result is a maximum number of attempts at those settings, not a promise of that many usable final clips.

When we checked Kling4's image-to-video screen, the default interface displayed Kling 4.0 Lite, 720p, four seconds and a 40-credit quote. A 40-credit balance would cover one attempt if that same quote and account eligibility apply when you submit. This is a displayed-cost example, not a completed generation test.

If another supported setting quotes more than your remaining balance, the welcome allowance cannot cover that job. Compare the actual quotes before changing duration, resolution or audio. Avoid assuming that a shorter video always costs less; the selected model's pricing determines the result.

Reserve credits for a revision where the allowance permits it. A finished generation may still have an awkward movement or altered object. A creative miss should not be treated as an automatic credit refund.

Which Kling models can you try for free?

A free balance does not establish access to every model or feature. Choose from the options your account can actually use, then check the generation quote.

Kling4's selector may offer different model variants. Record the exact name and do not assume all Kling 4.0 variants have the same access or price. A feature shown in a model announcement or example gallery may also be absent from your selected workflow.

For a first test, open the model selector and record the exact name. Check which image-input mode, clip length, resolution and audio controls it supports. If the option is locked, requires an upgrade or costs more credits than you have, choose an eligible alternative that still answers your test question.

This keeps the free trial focused on what you can create now, without budgeting around a headline capability.

Start your free trial with one useful shot

Verify your new account through the available email or Google flow, then confirm the welcome balance before submitting anything. The advertised allowance is a one-time offer.

A good first project is one short, easy-to-evaluate shot:

  • A ceramic mug stays on a table while the camera moves slowly closer
  • Leaves move gently in a garden scene with a fixed camera
  • A clearly framed object makes one small movement against a simple background

Use an image you own or have permission to process. A product or still-life reference makes it easier to judge unwanted shape changes without adding the consent requirements of another person's likeness.

Choose the shortest supported duration that can show the action. Keep the background simple, and leave audio off for an initial motion-only test if that option is available. Select the framing for your intended use before generating so a later crop does not hide the detail you wanted to evaluate.

Our Kling beginner guide explains the complete input-to-review workflow.

Example input prompt

“A plain ceramic mug sits on a wooden table beside a window. The camera slowly moves closer in one continuous shot. The mug remains still, its handle keeps the same shape, and soft daylight stays consistent. No cuts.”

This example can be adapted to your own scene. For image-to-video, let the reference establish the appearance and use the prompt to direct motion. See the Kling AI prompt guide for more scene structures.

Review the first result before spending again

Judge the output against the one goal you set:

  1. Did the requested movement happen?
  2. Did the subject keep its important shape and details?
  3. Is the full clip usable, including the opening and ending?

If the motion is wrong, change that instruction first. If the mug bends, reduce the camera movement or improve the source image. Keep the other settings unchanged so the next attempt has a clear comparison point.

Set a spending limit before experimenting. If the same defect persists after a focused revision, stop repeating the same request. Rework the input or simplify the shot before using more credits. The useful outcome of a free trial can be discovering that a particular scene needs a different approach.

Can you download free videos without a watermark?

Free generation, file download and watermark removal are separate benefits. On official Kling AI, brand-watermark removal is a membership benefit. Its paid-service terms require non-members to retain the relevant branding or prominently identify Kling AI where no brand mark is attached, unless they have written permission otherwise.

On Kling4, paid plans advertise watermark-free downloads. Check the download options available for your completed result before assuming a free preview includes an unrestricted export. A visible watermark control alone does not establish your account's export entitlement.

If you need a file for an editing workflow, verify the actual download option, resolution and branding requirements during the trial. Keep required marks and attribution intact.

Can you use free Kling videos commercially?

Do not assume free credits include a commercial license. Official Kling AI's general terms restrict commercial use without written permission; its paid membership terms grant commercial-use benefits subject to their conditions.

On Kling4, commercial permissions depend on the chosen plan and applicable terms. Check the license included with that specific offer before using a result in paid advertising or client work. You also need the necessary rights to uploaded images, logos, music and any person's likeness. Paying for generation does not clear third-party rights.

When is paying worth it?

Pay when the trial has established a useful workflow and you need a specific benefit: more attempts, an eligible higher-quality setting, the required export option, commercial permission or better processing priority.

Estimate the attempts needed for your next project before choosing a plan. Include revisions, not just final clips, and check credit expiry and renewal terms. Our Kling AI pricing guide covers those decisions; the Kling4 pricing page lists current offers.

Start on Kling4 with one clear idea, confirm your balance and quote, then make the smallest test that helps you decide.
